What types of projects does By Design Construction take on in West Vancouver?

We build custom homes, laneway homes, duplexes, and more, and we handle major renovations, home additions, kitchen remodels, and other complex residential projects.

Why do site conditions matter when building in West Vancouver?

Conditions such as slopes, water, basement depth, and nearby natural features can influence design, excavation, drainage, engineering, and construction planning. Understanding them early helps create a more realistic project plan.

Can water conditions affect a basement or a new home in West Vancouver?

They can. Water retention and below-grade conditions may influence excavation, drainage, foundations, basement planning, and other construction details.

When should I talk to a builder about my West Vancouver project?

Ideally, before the design is too far along. Early builder input can help identify feasibility, budget, and construction considerations while you still have room to adjust the plan.

Why West Vancouver Homeowners Choose By Design Construction

Feasibility Before Construction

We look at the property, site conditions, goals, and budget before a project moves too far into design. That early work helps you understand what is practical and where the biggest decisions need to be made.

Experience With Complex Residential Projects

Custom homes, laneway homes, duplexes, additions, renovations, and kitchen remodels all require different levels of planning and coordination. Our broader residential experience helps you compare options instead of being pushed toward a single solution.

Practical Advice, Not Just a Build

The conversation is not only about square footage or finishes. We also consider how the property needs to work for family, rental income, aging in place, resale, and long-term use.

Clear Planning From Concept to Construction

The goal is to make important decisions early, coordinate the right consultants and planning steps, and move into construction with a clearer understanding of scope, priorities, and tradeoffs.

Know What Your Project Could Really Cost Before You Start

A construction number on its own doesn’t tell you much. Our Cost & Feasibility Guide helps Greater Vancouver homeowners understand realistic planning ranges, what belongs in an honest project budget, and the factors that can move costs before construction begins.

We recently had our home renovated by Bobby and his team at By Design Construction and we couldn't be happier with the results. The cabinets are gorgeous, and the tiling and flooring were expertly done.

Baltej Singh Dhillon

The company was a pleasure to work with.Work was completed in a timely fashion and we couldn't be more happier with the outcome. It increased not only the value of our home but made it more usable and added curb appeal. Bobby is very knowledgeable and there are no hidden surprises. He consulted with us on cost and ideas throughout the entire process, that worked within our budget.

Bobby managed the project with great insight and care, overseeing all aspects of the project making it stress free for us. We were appreciative of the care Bobby took, and how he paid attention to the details and areas that we had no expertise in , always providing guidance by citing other projects, allowing us to better understand the details of the project.

We would definitely recommend this company for any project, and have leaned on Bobby on advice and support on a number of projects.
